St Pauls Chambers Inquests & Inquiries team has extensive experience of Inquests and Coronial Law.

The team provides advice and representation from initial contact with the coroner, disclosure, pre-inquest reviews and final hearings. All members of our inquest team have experience in dealing with complex and lengthy Article 2 ECHR inquests, involving representation of professionals including General Practitioners and Police Officers as well as families of the deceased.

The team comprises of five excellent silks, including Samuel Green KC, who was instructed for the Police Federation of England and Wales in the inquests arising from the Hillsborough Football Stadium Disaster.

The team also includes brilliant juniors at a variety of levels, including Sophie Mitchell, Hannah Lynch and Charlie Greenwood, who are members of the Attorney General’s Regional B and C Panels of Junior Counsel to the Crown respectively. Panel Counsel conduct Article 2 inquest hearings on behalf of government health institutions and His Majesty’s Prison Service.

We fully understand the importance of compassion and proper representation when acting for families of the deceased or for other interested parties including care homes, hospitals and corporate entities.

All members of the team boast vast experience in complimentary areas of law, including regulatory and disciplinary, personal injury and clinical negligence. Therefore, the team are able to provide continuity in associated proceedings across a variety of jurisdictions including criminal prosecutions and professional disciplinary proceedings involving the IOPC.

In such sensitive proceedings, the team considers the continuity of excellent counsel it provides across a multitude of practice areas, distinguishes us from other chambers and enables us to build excellent levels of trust and reassurance with our clients.
