Jacob Schreuders, alleged by the Crown to be the criminal mastermind behind a conspiracy to import huge amounts of cannabis, was acquitted following a 10 week trial at Leeds Crown Court. Tonnes of skunk had been shipped into West Yorkshire hidden in flower boxes sent from the defendant’s company, Flowexpo. Described by the Crown as a top level criminal, the type of which are rarely seen before the courts, Schreuders denied all knowledge of the drugs and maintained that his company had been used without his knowledge. 3 defendants convicted of involvement received a total of 28 years imprisonment.
