Significant Sentences – Following Major Cocaine Operation Prosecuted by Jane Brady

A major drugs conspiracy involving ‘one of the most sophisticated cocaine processing facilities’ encountered by the police, has resulted in significant prison sentences following a successful prosecution led by Jane Brady of St Paul’s Chambers.

Operation Hotspur involved surveillance and simultaneous searches which uncovered 46 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of £4.8 million, alongside industrial processing equipment and high-purity drugs.

In sentencing the defendants on 17 October 2025, Her Honour Judge Belcher echoed the Drugs Expert Witness, who described the set-up as:

“One of the most sophisticated operations ever encountered.”

Sentences imposed:

  • Cy Suddick, 32, who admitted a ‘high significant and operational role’ from his home address, received 12 years’ imprisonment (16 years after trial, reduced for plea and previous good character).
  • Kevin Robinson, 50, with previous relevant convictions, was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months after plea.
  • Oliver Duncan, 21, was sentenced to 5 years and 11 months, the judge recognising his youth, immaturity good character.

The Judge emphasised the seriousness of the offence:

“Where operations are on the most serious and commercial scale, 20 years may be appropriate. Here, the volumes and sophistication justify such consideration.”
