The seminar will cover some commonly encountered issues, such as:

• How the Inquest process works in England and Wales
• What a Coroner may and may not do in terms of their findings and conclusions
• What legal representatives bring to an inquest, and how to get the most from your evidence
• The interplay of Article 2 of the ECHR with the coronial process, and
• How recent developments in the law have widened the scope of Inquests and changed the landscape for public bodies and certain private organisations

The seminar will be followed by questions and answers.

Matthew has significant Inquest experience; he has acted for families and local authorities across a range of inquest types, including cases involving alleged breaches of Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Matthew has acted in cases involving the prisons service, care provided by local health trusts, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and mental health services, and cases in which there have been significant delays in diagnosis and treatment resulting from measures implemented during the COVD-19 pandemic.
