Jonathan Sandiford KC is recognised by The Times as Lawyer of the Week

Jonathon Sandiford KC St Pauls ChambersJonathan Sandiford KC is featured in this week’s Law pages of The Times as Lawyer of the Week. The article is written on the back of Jonathan’s successful prosecution of Eleanor Williams.  Williams was convicted of eight counts of perverting the course of justice by falsely claiming that she had been raped and sex trafficked by an Asian grooming gang. She was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to eight and a half years in prison.

During the interview Jonathan reveals the hurdles he faced on the case, not least because he had to pick it up seven weeks before it was due for trial. Jonathan gives special recognition to it being a team effort with particular reference to his junior, Barbara Webster, whom he describes as “Brilliant”.

Jonathan describes the difficulty in weaving together the many strands of the investigation to demonstrate how Williams had manipulated evidence and others when making her false allegations.

From the humble beginnings of a working-class background Jonathan gets his moment in the spotlight to give a little insight into what makes him the success he has become.
