St Pauls Chambers runs mini-pupillage competitions twice a year in the spring and autumn months. This work experience placement offers aspiring legal professionals the chance to gain insight into the profession by shadowing one of our experienced barristers.

How to Apply for Mini-Pupillage

From here, the senior team at St Pauls will review your application and decide on the next steps.

St Pauls Chambers employs a rigorous application process in considering mini-pupillage applications and, therefore, can only offer three places in spring and three places in autumn. Aligning with our legal expertise, our mini-pupillages focus on .

The Spring Competition
Regarding mini-pupillage deadlines, the application window is between the 1st and 31st of March each year. The pupillage committee will aim to respond by mid-April. The mini-pupillages will last three days, and the spring competition will occur between mid-April and the end of May each year.
Any applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The Autumn Competition
The application window is between the 1st and 30th of September each year. The pupillage committee will aim to respond by mid-October. The mini-pupillages will last for three days, and the autumn competition will take place between mid-October and the end of November.
Any applications received after the mini-pupillage deadlines will not be considered.

Who Can Apply for Mini-Pupillages?

Our mini-pupillage applications are typically available to individuals considering a career as a barrister, including law students and graduates.

Candidates will be assessed using the following criteria:

  1. Academic ability
  2. Work experience, including both legal and non-legal
  3. Advocacy experience
  4. Interest in St Pauls Chambers
