Oliver Norman joined chambers as a tenant following a successful pupillage at a criminal defence firm, gaining extensive experience in conducting advocacy in various courts and settings.

In the Crown Court Oliver has represented clients for serious offences such as possession of a bladed article, contact offences and breach of SHPO, dangerous driving, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

In the Magistrates’ Court Oliver has conducted trials for offences such as burglary, handling stolen goods, sexual assault, breach of SHPO, breach of restraining order, breach of community order, indecent exposure, assault, public order, and dangerous dog out of control causing injury. Oliver has experience with first hearings, sentencing hearings, bail applications, and Newton hearings.

In the Youth Court Oliver has represented young defendants on offences such as GBH, assault, criminal damage, theft and burglary, his adaptive advocacy style suited the needs and abilities of the young clients and ensured that they understood the proceedings and their rights.

A case of deferred sentence, Oliver persuaded the judge to deal with a repeat offender by way of deferred sentence even though they were in breach of a community order and suspended sentence for similar offences.

Sexual Assault trial where defendant faced trial of sexual assault on a 15-year-old.

Oliver has assisted on preparing cases for parole hearings, which involved advising clients on their eligibility, suitability, and risk assessment. Oliver has also advised clients at the police station stage for matters such as manslaughter, conspiracies, rape, s.18 and blackmail.

Additionally, Oliver has provided written advice on appeal of conviction and sentence for R v T, which related to a historic conviction of indecent assault.
