Corey Boothe joined chambers as a tenant in September 2025 and has established a successful mixed common law practice.

Expertise

Corey regularly appears in the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court for both the prosecution and the defence. Since March 2025, he has sharpened his skills as a confident advocate by prosecuting trials and sentencing hearings in the Magistrates’ Court. His ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment when conducting multiple trials in a single day has earned him early exposure to the Crown Court – with some of his work attracting press coverage.

Building on this success and his reputation as a personable advocate, Corey has also been able to develop a strong defence practice alongside his prosecution work. He is frequently instructed in trials, sentences and ancillary applications. Corey has particular experience defending road traffic offences, where he has successfully secured the dismissal of numerous charges.

In his civil work, Corey is routinely instructed in small claims track trials involving credit hire disputes and road traffic accidents. His broader practice involves costs and case management conferences, allocation hearings, Stage 3 applications, infant approvals and matters on the Official Injury Claims Portal. Corey has a strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules, which he applies in advice, preparation and advocacy. He has appeared in the Royal Courts of Justice for a multi-track interlocutory application and has experience acting in fast track trials.

Keen to develop a practice in more complex litigation, Corey has been appointed to the Government Legal Department’s Junior Junior Scheme. Through this role, he has been instructed in a range of matters, including drafting defences and summary grounds of defence in actions against the government in both civil litigation and judicial review proceedings.
Corey’s ability to accept instructions at short notice, meet deadlines without compromising quality and work collaboratively as part of a team has resulted in repeat instructions throughout his practice.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Corey developed a diverse civil practice as a County Court Advocate. This role covered a broad range of claims, including debt enforcement, mortgage repossessions, landlord and tenant disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, and interim applications. Regarded as a senior advocate, Corey acted in over 1,500 hearings and frequently mentored new recruits in their training.
