A strong result for Tom Cowan at Scarborough Youth Court.

Tom was instructed by Freeman Brown Solicitors to defend a young adult, charged with a serious allegation of s.20 GBH stemming from an incident that occurred when both parties were youths. The complainant had sustained a broken jaw requiring surgery.

On the morning of trial, Tom made detailed legal submissions to the Prosecutor and to the court regarding serious disclosure failings, raising arguments around abuse of process.

Following those submissions, the Crown offered no evidence, and the case against Tom’s client was dismissed.
