Counsel at the Old Bailey for the Counter Terrorism Unit

Jonathan Sandiford and Denise Breen-Lawton were recently instructed by the CPS Counter Terrorism Unit to appear at the Old Bailey

Jonathan Sandiford and Denise Breen-Lawton were recently instructed by the CPS Counter Terrorism Unit to appear at the Old Bailey to prosecute three young Kurdish women who were accused of petrol bombing a Turkish social club in North London. The defendants pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to the endangerment of life with the two older defendants being sentenced to 6 years 8 months imprisonment and the third, younger defendant receiving 6 years YOI.

Jonathan and Denise successfully argued against three Silks that the offence should be regarded as aggravated by the political motivations of the defendants and racially aggravated since it was designed to terrorise the Turkish community.
