Stubbs QC Appointed on the SFO Panel

Head of St Pauls Chambers, Andrew Stubbs QC has been appointed to join the QC Panel of Prosecution Counsel for the Serious Fraud Office.

Andrew Stubbs QC

The Serious Fraud Office is an independent government department, operating under the superintendence of the Attorney General.  Its purpose is to protect society by investigating and, if appropriate, prosecuting those who commit serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption and pursuing them and others for the proceeds of their crime.  Its Director is David Green CB QC.

Career Details

Since taking silk he has continued to appear for the prosecution and defence in fraud cases - many with an international element, and often with complex confiscation hearings following on as well as handling sensitive murder cases.

R v. Pearson
Gross negligence manslaughter through neglect of elderly mother.  In depth cross examination regarding pressure sores and malnutrition- subjective element to offence and psychiatric evidence.

R v. O
Historic rape of daughters complicated by previous acquittal of rape on one of complainants when defence was never happened. Now has child resulting from the offence- defence was consent. Bad character successfully excluded.

Carousel fraud- successful prosecution regarding designer goods and perfume deal chains

Continuing prosecution of OCG for carousel fraud.  Instructed from 2010 - 2014.

R v. Cosford
Misconduct in public office regarding prison nurse, proper definition of public office at issue.
